Benefits Of Renting A Duplex Apartment Over An Apartment In A Large Building

The word "apartment" can mean several different things. In some cities, almost all apartments are small units inside very large buildings. In other areas, almost all apartments are parts of larger homes, such as duplexes and triplexes. In still other areas, you have a choice — you can rent an apartment in a large building or one that is part of a duplex. So, what are the benefits of choosing a duplex apartment over an apartment in a big building? Take a look.

You only have one neighbor in the same building

Having neighbors can be nice in some ways. You may make friends with some neighbors, and it can be nice to have people around if there is an emergency. But when all of your neighbors are in the same, large apartment building, they can often be more annoying than helpful. You hear them when they walk or play video games, and of course, you have to be quiet and respectful so you do not bother them. In a duplex, you only have one neighbor (or family of neighbors) in the same building. This means fewer people playing instruments and watching noisy TV. It means only having to plan your loud activities over one other family's schedules and needs. With such an arrangement, your apartment will feel more like your space.

You often have access to a yard

Some apartment buildings do have greenspace associated with them, but you'll be sharing that greenspace with a lot of people. You can't really put your own patio furniture out there or make the space your own at all. In a duplex, on the other hand, there is typically a yard, and that yard is shared between you and the occupant of the other side. Usually, you can put some of your items out there as long as you aren't bothered by the other residents doing the same. You can relax out there without a lot of other people bothering you, too.

You may have a private landlord

Most apartment buildings are owned by large leasing companies. Many duplexes, on the other hand, are owned by private landlords. People often find it more personal and easier to rent from a private landlord than to rent from a large leasing company. It's nice to know exactly who to call and to deal with the same person all of the time when it comes to your home.

If you're not sure what kind of apartment to rent, you should consider finding half of a duplex. Talk to a real estate agent to get help finding duplexes for lease.

About Me

Choosing A Better Real Estate Investment Anyone can buy a home, but purchasing the right property is a little more difficult than some people make it out to be. I started focusing on buying my first home about ten years back, and although I had a few ideas about where to start, I knew that things were probably more complicated than I was making them out to be. After narrowing down the home search to the parts of town that were growing the fastest, I had a good idea of where I wanted to be. Now I can honestly say that my home is worth more than ever, and I am happy with the progress I've made. Check out this blog for more information.
